Hello, and welcome to Emma's book blog, a place where I hope to review books! Now considering book reviews were never particularly my strong suit at school, why have I suddenly decided to publish my incoherent thoughts on books online? Well, the explanation for this originates in my 2015/2016 new years resolutions. I've always loved reading, ever since I was very young, but since I started university, I found myself reading a lot less. So my 2015 new years resolution was to try and do the 50 book challenge, which, unsurprisingly, involves reading 50 books in a year.
I didn't manage it.
So I tried again in 2016, but again, I was bested by the 50 book challenge. However, it wasn't a complete failure, as whilst I didn't quite manage to read 50 books, I still got back into reading. What's more, it meant that I recorded every book that I read, which was super useful when looking back at the end of the year, because it helped me remember which books I really enjoyed and would recommend, which books I ended up spending far too long reading because they were just too boring, and which books which were so average and uneventful that I would have completely forgotten about them if I hadn't written it down.
So for 2017 I decided to change my new year's resolution a bit. Rather than measuring my reading by numbers alone, I've decided to record and review (hopefully) every book I read, so that I can look back and remember the thoughts I had on that book at the time. I also thought it would be useful to publish online for two reasons, one, so I can be held accountable for actually recording and writing about the books I read (or at least feel like I'm being held accountable, I doubt many people will care that much!) and two, so that people can read my opinions on books in case they have read/are thinking about reading them!
So, that's that. I know we're already into February, but I've only just finished my first book (I had exams, don't judge me!) and will hopefully be reviewing that shortly. Or at the very least I'll be posting a picture of the cover and some garbled, unstructured thoughts.
See you soon!
